Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Just one taster lesson is all it takes, and you'll be walking out of there with your jeans round your knees, smoking roll ups and saying things like 'man' and 'rad' at the end of each sentence!

question: ever fancied a go at snowboarding?
answer: no

I've been on a board three times. Each time my brain screams constantly at me: "...YOU COULD BE ENJOYING YOURSELF SKIING..."

And going down on a front edge hurts....a lot

I quite agree with Lizzard, and would have dragged my brother along for this, were we not going to be in Dublin to see England get a grand slam.

Bode and Tux, you made me laugh out loud Very Happy

The original lessons were so successful that we're still introducing people to "the board" on a (near) monthly basis Very Happy

Look for the latest Hemel night in the snowEvents forum if you fancy a go!

(Sorry Lizzard, can't help if you persist in being in the Alps Laughing)

(bar shaker, either you or I are misreading Lizzard's post! But look out for the May event, I'm sure "It's Easy" Andy will be able to help you then...)

I'm off pretty soon to experience my first snowboarding holiday on snow for a week on our school ski trip. My question is: is it worth going on a dry ski slope for a day or so first? My childhood experiences (I'm talking as a teacher here!) of these slopes is that they burn when you fall and are quite unlike snow - is that being unkind to the modern day slopes? Is it worth it for the sake of a day's worth? Thanks.

 You know it makes sense.

jloo, much more worthwhile to go to a fridge. If you can fit in the time, a "learn to snowboard in a day" course is well worth doing. I did one at Milton Keynes. Utterly knackering but might mean the kids don't overtake you till, say, Tuesday. wink Several people I know, including both my sons and my son in law - who is a PE teacher and no wimp - found trying to learn on a dry slope the opposite of enjoyable.
