Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Custonm Footbed disappointment

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Used 'off the shelf' conform'able red footbeds and was qiute pleased with the improvement and was 'persuaded' (easily, I admit) to go for a full custom job.. The customs are MUCH thinner (1 or 2 mm) and although provide support fell slightly sloppy. Is this 60 notes down the pan or should they be thicker? The off the shelf are easily at least double that thickness with an incompressible base over the whole sole the customs having only a heel support section in addition to the white base former.

any constructive suggestions welcome.

Maersk, just get some shims inserted under the footbeds to remove the slot. The fitter will probably not want to do this and will probably treat you in a condescending way.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

A few seasons back I had some done at Slush & Rubble and they made a complete mess of them - didn't cut them to the right size, accentuated the pronation in my feet rather than correcting it and all in all made a right mess of the job.

After a few trips back and no joy from their 'experts' I ended up getting them professionally checked out by an independent and discovered just how badly they had been made. Armed with that evidence I went back and got my money refunded with no quibbles but you might be able to get a refund without all that hassle so worth trying, otherwise would recommend you check it out with someone who knows what they're doing - feel free to PM if you want recommendations Smile

Ellis Brigham made my conform'able footbeds and cut one too short first time round so it was sliding forwards and putting the lumps and bumps in the wrong place. They sorted it no quibble and have to say they are great. Even a relatively new skier like me can tell the difference they make, if they feel sloppy take a careful look to see if they are moving about and if so get back to get em sorted.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Not moving about but are so thin in comparison with the others it impacts, negatively on the fit making the OTS better than the CF. Sad
