I'm gutted. I've just come down from my local ski station: St Hilaire du Touvet. They are shutting today despite having plenty of snow (althought the pistes haven't been groomed since last Saturday). It is a real shame but there are just not enough skiers to make it economical for the town hall to keep the place open.
A reminder that we are well and truly into spring and many a ski resort will be thinking of closing up. The terrible storm (that killed 50 people in France) didn't help bringing very warm temperatures and rain that have done a lot of damage. St Hils is shutting at least a couple of weeks early this season.

Hopefully for you and people around it's just temporary and they will reopen for longer next season. Hope we won't get another global warming story like we had from main broadsheets when Abondance closed a few years ago because of so called global warming. It was just that they were broke and it has now re-opened of course under new ownership.

ricfrench, In the part of Cambridgeshire I live in that's about it, 146m is achieved in the south near the Essex border.
