Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski mountaineering in Chamonix

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi all,

I'm putting together a trip to Chamonix to do some ski mountaineering. Any ideas where the best place to get rental G3 or Dynafit gear in Chamonix is?

Any recommendations?

Sorry for brevity, I'm in a mad rush.

Cheers,
mmw

Snell's would be the obvious place to start but any of the 3S/Twinner or possibly Sanglard's rental shops should hire touring gear. I'm guessing amongst that lot you'll find a shop that has dynafits.

Ravanel Shop was recommended to me by a touring guide in Chamonix... http://www.ravanel-sportshop.com/ski-rental-booking.htm
I've not used them yet so can't vouch for the recommendation

Ok... Friend of mine at G3 put me in contact with s great person in Cham, also a guide, so if you want I can put you in contact...

Here is the low down:

Best places for G3 touring eq are:
- Sport Alpin (just opposide the Aiguille du Midi Tram) Shop is owned by the French G3 distribututor.
- Otavalo, speciality Telemark shop with a good rental fleet
- Finally Snell's, a big shop in town which carries some stuff

Don't hesitate to pm me for further info...
