Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Big town for a ski resort?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hey all,

In need of some resort recomendations. Looking for a ski resort that is a reasonable sized town/city where the girlfriend can get a real job and I can be a ski instructor. Out in mayrhofen at the moment and my other has decided she doesnt want to make a life in a small town where everyone knows everyone.

Please help, both speak english and german if it helps but happy to go anywhere in the world... suggestions?

In Austria Vienna has the best job opportunites but ski instructor opportunites aren't good. Salzburg, Innsbruck or Graz would probably give a more balanced chance for the both of you. Problem is that outside of Vienna most towns are really small so everyone knows everyone "this is a decent town and a local shop, there's nothing for you here".

Salt Lake City, Utah? Several resorts are a short drive up into the mountains. You can drive up to resort within 30mins or so from the city.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Innsbruck or Salzburg? Loads of decent resorts within an hour. Landeck could be an option which means Ischgl, St Anton, Serfaus and Obergurgl all within 30 mins or so

München / Munich is another option, living between there and the ski resorts with a bit of commuting might work.

Small town in the German speaking part of Switzerland and commute?

What does your girlfriend do? If it's the type of job that's limited to major international centres that probably limits the options quite a lot.

Lanquart in Switzerland might work on the same basis as Landeck. Lots of resorts within easy reach by car

beanie1 has raised the most important point. It very much depends what your girlfriend does. I noticed a small design agency in Kitzbuhel when I was on holiday there. I couldn't help wondering if they were looking for a full-time senior designer and how much they would pay me, lol! Laughing
