I'm particularly taken with the Salopettes that look like Jeans that look Boarder Cross (sp?) skiers were wearing yesterday. Are these widely available?

PeteMan, yes, for a daft price - they are the new USA colours. Punter's advice - buy cheap jeans and don't fall over or ski while it's snowing

Did ski in jeans with gaiters in Santa Fe once. Away without regular gear. Agree, just do not fall if it's at all wet.

I really don't get it. Wearing jeans on the mountain is almost as bad as using snowblades, it's never looked cool, it's never been cool, it just makes you look like the biggest billy bunter/gaper around. Why on earth make salopettes that look like denim?!! You may as well get salopettes with a built in toilet seat to complement your body position!!

OK maybe I phrased that a bit too strongly (I was tempted to put in a 'laughing smiley face emoticon thing to keep it light) but I really htink they look a bit stupid, usually the preserve of Parisian teenagers and don't show the mountains the respect they deserve.

clarky999, actually I don't wear jeans but I do have some board pants that look like them. I think the Alpkit ones would be ok though especially for just messing about on piste, my mate has some and they're very good: properly waterproof and warm too.
