Well done to the woman from Bath for getting gold.
Does anyone know why they have events for head first(skeleton) and feet first(luge) ? I can understand bobsleigh as a team event - but not the different individual disciplines. It could be like swimming I suppose.

Thats like asking why do they have downhill and slalom skiing, or 100m, 200m and 400m. They're completely different sports, requiring different skill sets.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I do not see that. It is the same course. They are just facing a different way on the vehicle.

The other options, such as sideways, might need a much wider track. Given a competitors natural desire to reduce wind resistance and hence go faster, I imagine that it would be easier to write the rules for head first and feet first styles as compared to navel-first and coccyx-first events.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I don't know much about it but having watched both on TV, the sleds do not look the same and the method of steering/control is completely different in both disciplines. If they were the same the athletes would compete in both surely and double their chances of success?

You'll need to Register first of course.

There's an untapped market for head first on your back.
And with a wider track, you could do cross-type events.
