Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

there are a couple of other options - you can get a train from Modane to Lyon airport direct but my experience has been times aren't great to link in with flights unless you do some changing at Chambery. Recall the best direct train is in the evening.

Alternatively get the TGV from Modane to Turin and it's about 25 Euro taxi ride from the station in Turin to the airport.

Modane is a 10 minute train ride from St Michel.

I have heard that there is a coach from St Michel to Lyon airport but never used it - would be good to hear if anybody knows of that option.

Flybe do Chambery to Southampton - you can book one way. I guess that charter flights are difficult to book one way?

This is a long-shot but it might be worth having a word with SnowCoach. They have accomodation in Valmeinier 1800 and their website suggests they are very flexible when it comes to airport transfers for anyone making their own flight arrangements. If they have spare capacity, it's just possible they'll let you join their transfer coach for a small fee

It is not that hard to get from Valmeinier (bus to St Michel) to Geneva by train if you change at Chambery (about 3 hours), the direct trains are few and far between as other posters have said. I know altibus do transfer coaches from neighbouring Valloire to Chambery, Grenoble and Lyon, so they might be worth a look? They are not too cheap though, which is why we did a DIY transfer via the trains. Check out SNCF and rail europe for times/prices.

A surprising range of airlines use Chambery, you just have to look quite hard (not all flights seem to come up on skyscanner). Try flybe, snowjet, thomson and jet2. I flew snowjet to Chambery from Stansted, and they also fly from Gatwick, Bristol..etc.

Enjoy!
