Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Having just read the article I am a little confused... am I supposed to straight-line it on fresh snow then??... no 'zig-zags' allowed...

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I suspect zig-zaging refers to doing long traverses between turns, or maybe very long radius turns. Traverses or turns that cross a large width of the snow and thus may cut or cross areas of weakness in the snowpack. When we ski off piste we do short radius turns that span maybe three metres width on the slope.

cool video... zig-zags played no part in it - it was that knobhead going back-bottom over T that triggered the avy Laughing

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

"Not recommended ... on a sunlit day..."

Sorry, you can only ride off piste at night, or during a total solar eclipse.

would boarders notice the difference?

Quite surprised all 3 walked away from that. The writer was probably a cub reporter given this one at no notice, hence the trying-to-sound-knowledgeable-but-failing prose.

The zig zagging comment probably relates to wasting all the fresh tracks for others... i.e. using up all the lovely new snow and spoiling it. And GPS means tranceivers... the quality of the article is pretty low regarding knowledge of snowsports.
