Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I will be purchasing a helmet in Bourg at the EOSB. Anyone got any recommendations ? Any that are particularly good / bad ? Let me know your thoughts.

There is already at least one thread on this, with links to review sites. The Giro 9.9 came out well, I think, but the consensus is that you need to try several to see which fit well. Apparently, if you wear an ill fitting helmet, you might as well just beat your head against a convenient rock on day one of your hol, as death will surely result (I may have overstated things a bit).

My other half had an ill fitting helmet for horse riding and ended up in hospital with really severe headaches.

Tony Lane, my question is - should it be tight - should it be a bit slack - etc etc etc etc etc

Like a motorcycle helmet it should be close fitting with no tight spots which will be extremely painful after a very short time - generally just after you've parted with your cash and have headed out on the slopes. The Phil Urge range of helmets should be considered.

Paul Mason, Snug (bit like a ski sock on your foot) is the best description for a new helmet . . . it will compact slightly with use. And whatever you do, get one with a removable, washable liner. Helmets make you sweat.
Some people will wear a lightweight beanie under a loose helmet for the same reason.
