Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Liamj. welcome to snowheads. You shouldn't have any problems other than the usual of the N90 being clooged up on transfer day, but that's usually only after Albertville. It's avery straightforward route and Autoroute (A41-A43-A430) until just before Albertville and then the N90 to bourg St Maurice, it should only take you a couple of hours at most.

As far as I can remember only the last 17 miles from Moutier to BSM has single lane. The rest is either motorway or dual carriageway.

Changeover day can be a pig but coming to Arc 1800 should be OK because it would be mid March. It pays to leave early when you finish with Arc 1800. I would pack up the night before, sneak out before 7am and have breakfast in Albertville. Any spare time left is better spent in Grenoble than stuck inside Tarantaise valley.

It is mid March, but it is also the start of the UK Easter Hols! If it's anything like the half term a few weeks ago then it will be pretty chaotic (that's based on the reports posted here).

On a related issue, i am also driving to La Plagne from Grenoble Airport on April 9th, so i guess the travel advice is the same, however do you think it will still be mandatory to hire snow chains?

also, is holidayautos.com generally the best deal, are there any other well priced companies out there? (holidayautos.com dont seem to have the options to have a ski rack/snow chain hire on their website)....and has anyone tried to get skis inside a 2 door corsa, does it work or should i just not bother and hire skis for the week/pay more to upgrade to a car that they would fit in (can you fit skis in a renault clio or will i need to go even bigger?!).

thanks for any advice Very Happy

tomski01, if it's snowy/icy you'll need chains on the road up to La Plagne from Aime, 21 hairpins and the Gendarmerie will turn you back if conditions are bad. We've used our chains more this season than any other, last sunday our driver had to use chains on the road from Albertville to Annecy, unheard of. Can't help you with the Corsa but my daughter has a Clio and she regularly carries her skis in it.
