Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Fuelling up in Calais

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Thought I would take advantage of the marginally cheaper diesel prices in France and fill up in Calais when we travel over next week. Are there any fuel stations on the route from the ferry terminal to the autoroute which I could use or would I in need to drive through town?.

Cheers all

Bas

Basil, if you use mappy.com and select service stations as an option on your route it will give all fuel stops, have always found mappy good for this.

Maybe there's a diesel pump that the ferries use

There is a supermarket one we use just a few minutes off route. Join the carriageway heading for autoroute (E15), then take the next junction (3 I think) and head right. The road has a canal running through the middle. After a frew hundred yards there is a Carrefour on the left. The fuel is cheap. Return to E15

Having been in Calais at 10.00pm recently I would suggest that everyone should be very careful/wary of gangs hanging around the road junctions at night Sad

Always in Calais early afternoon or mid morning, depending on the direction of travel, but thanks for the warning.

Basil, really what's the point? In the French alps beer is going at £10 a litre, coffee must be more like £50 a litre and mineral water is on a par with world platinum prices ounce for ounce.

Boredsurfing, what do they want to do to you?

Bode Swiller,

Quote:
a police spokesman in Calais told the Daily Mail that the nine million Britons a year who pass through Calais - the equivalent of 25,000 every day - should take extra care.

He urged motorists to keep their windows closed and doors locked until they are safely inside the ferry terminal.
The officer said he had received several reports from holidaymakers of having to 'run a gauntlet' of migrants between the town and the ferry port.

On which basis I would suggest Tesco's in Ashford just of the M20 - no messing around once of the Ferry/Train

Plus you're collecting Clubcard points towards the next trip

Basil, go to http://www.prix-carburants.gouv.fr/index.php and you can get current prices, a map and even suggested refuelling stops on a route. Shows up a number of fuel stops in and around Calais that should be easy to get to.

The truck stop @ Rocade Est is probably the best if you are coming from the ferry terminal.

 You know it makes sense.

Agree Rocade Est is the stop , Diesel was 1.10 New Year , just round the corner from Majestic , think the Pinot Grigio comes in about same price !!!!

Leclerc's is usually as cheap as anywhere.

Edit - Woops just remembered that was near the Speedferries terminal in Boulogne, not sure if there is one in Calais.
