Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Always been to France or Verbier, never been to Italian Alps, got chance of going mid March to Sestriere. How good is the skiing for an intermediate skier and a boarder or any other general views on the place

mightysaints, plenty for an intermediate, mainly reds. Sestriere holds its snow well, but I think there were a few drag lifts, but you can probably avoid them. The Italians are really friendly, and food/drink prices are probably a little cheaper than France.

Make sure you try a Bombardino Toofy Grin

Is very very nice indeed. Try to do the Kandahar downhill course without stopping.

Its good but i much prefer the runs on the Sauze d oulx/Sansicario side of the milky way, but as long as its not windy you can cross between easily.
If its bad wind and you cant cross over it can be a bit limited if you are enjoy getting the miles in.

Heading to sauze d'oulx end of feb - Can't wait! Heard good things about the region and looking forward to wandering away from sauze as well and exploring a little more of the milky way as well

It's a nice base, quiet but miles of skiing on the milky way.

Plenty of skiing to keep an intermediate happy.

Hotel du Col where we stayed in 2006 had a great location, decent enough hotel, food ok but nothing exciting.

Slopes of Sansicario were fantastic and empty - well worth the trip over. There might be buses to the other resorts on the Milky Way if the wind is bad?

Big thumbs up for Sestriere. Some of the out of the way mountain eateries are great. Bombardinos a must.
Big tip - get yourself a lift map from Montgenevre, the Italian version is crap, French one is far superior.
