Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Switzerland has it as well and has done for as long as I can remember, (over 30 years) usually it is itemised on your hotel bill, typically x amount for room and breakfast, y amount for dinner and z amount for tourist tax on a day by day basis

It's been around for years. It's a tax levied on the property owner based on the number of guests they have. There seems to be a different local rate depending on the town you stay in. Whether you have to pay something depends on the property owner - some property owners charge you for it and others do not. It's just something to factor into the pricing of your holiday, like cleaning, laundry.

When visiting ST Anton last year I got a nasty little shock. I had to divi up 65 euros for my family to enjoy our visit to the town. This is on top of very expensive lift passes and THE most expensive ski&board hire I have ever experienced....conclusion: - TOTAL RIP OFF!
I won't be returning.

Well not with the family..... wink

Usually included in the price of your hotel room. I've certainly never had to pay it separately.

nigel b, it has always been there but a lot of hotel rooms quote a price inclusive of it for ease really, but it is always referred to some where in the small print.

Nadenoodlee, not exactly kids, all 3 of them are at uni which led to ever more burdening expense with multiple beer tokens! Shocked
