Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Visits to UK ski internet sites "up 18.5%" year-on-year

Experian Hitwise, a leading research organisation in new media, is reporting a substantial increase in traffic to UK ski websites for the first full week of 2010, compared to the same period in 2009. This is being partly explained by the exceptionally snowy weather across the country.

This report from BreakingTravelNews.

Quote:
During the week ending January 9th 2010, Glenshee was the most searched for ski resort by UK Internet users, followed by Cairngorm Searches for Cairngorm are up 60% year-on-year, while the second biggest increase in searches (after Glenshee) was for Nevis Range, also in Scotland. The rest of the top ten resort searches were all in the Alps, with Morzine the most popular overseas destination.”

There's an impressive graph illustrating the above, with some other data, on the Hitwise site:

Ernst Goldsmith,
Intresting, in a previous job I controlled the Hitwise data for our company, we paid them approx 20K a year for detailed info!

the key on the left is total search on the internet of all terms! so actually 0.07% for snow sports is not to bad.

But for Glenshee to be number one search term means something else is going on perhaps they would have been better to appy their geographical data and economic data split to the search term then maybe we would have seen it was all from Glasgow wink

Boredsurfing, if (for your £20k) you added up all the claimed web stats of all the web sites, you'd reach a number many times the population of the globe including all animals, insects and micro organisms... and that providing they were all online 23.5 hours per day and never took holidays.

Mind you the existance of surfing insects and micro organisms is kind of proven by the Let's Beat Up Ski Beat thread.

Ernst Goldsmith, thanks for bringing this vital information to our attention.

Not that long ago. I'd changed my name and was looking for a new direction in life.
