Hi everyone, off to Montchavin La Plagne with the OH last week of Feb - Which lift pass should we get? We're both intermediates and can do blues and reds, and are staying in Montchavin. There are 3 lift passes available: La Plagne (€208 , La Plagne plus a day in Les Arc (€221) or one that covers Les Arc for the whole week (€249). Any thoughts?

DixieDean, Montchavin is our favorite place in the whole of La Plagne/Paradski. its a traditional old French village, they still take the cows in and keep them under the houses in Winter, the smell of cow p*ss is great.
Montchavin is also in a great location to get the Vanoise express(cable car to Les Arcs), one chair and a small ski. Buy the whole area pass

I guess that answers that one then, folks. Whole pass it is. But whilst you are on, what are the must does whilst we are there, bearing in mind we will be having lessons AM, both on and off piste, e.g. which areas and runs should we do. Although we are in a catered chalet with great grub, ideas for places for lunch/afternoon tea and cake would be also welcome!

As intermediate boarders we went to Les Coches, we got the La Plagne pass and found we didn't have enough time to ride it all. Anything more than the one day in Les Arcs woud have been a waste for us. It's basically 2 huge resorts linked together, we didn't manage to get through the whole of the one huge resort

If you get fed up with the last run down to Montchavin at the end of the day (unless you love ice you will) there is a roadway that you can ski along to get most of the way down. Go through Les Coches and under a little bridge and follow the track.

A good option but annoyingly tricky to find.

DixieDean, Montchavin is indeed a great place to stay.
I agree with all thefatcontroller says, apart from his advice about the lift pass.
As TotallyBoard says: La Plagne and Les Arcs are each huge resorts. In one week you won't cover even half of one of them.
To a degree, it will depend on where your Ski Lessons are going to take you: suggest you check
But, unless cash is not an issue, I would suggest the Discovery Pass (one day in Les Arcs)
A day pass extension for Les Arcs costs €27.50. (La Plagne Lift Passes).
So, with the Discovery Pass, you can still go one more time to Les Arcs (if you find the time) and still be paying less than the full pass.
Are you really sure you will be going over to Les Arcs on 3 days out of your 6? Unlikely.

DixieDean, If not in lessons, ignore the lightweight Jonpim  and buy the all area. From Montchavin we used to across to Les Arcs every day and ski lots of La Plagne.
