Pretty similar or are there better options ?
In the past we've found P&O flexible if we arrive a little early and have been bumped onto the next sailing. But at other times have been charged. Are Sea France any better ?

I have always found Norfolk Lines cheapest.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I was charged to get an earlier sailing with Sea France this summer (about a tenner I think), so it sounds like they are pretty much the same in terms of T&Cs in this area.

We were charged extra on Sea France even though we got there with plenty of time to spare, there was a queue for passport control that took nearly two hours, so that by the time we reached check-in we had missed the boat. Lots of other people would have been in the same position, and they could have easily sort it out. But instead the management decided to make all the check-in staff deal with irate customers at the end of a long drive and long queue. It was not Sea Frances fault, but they could have handled it better.
Will try LD Lines next time, the the tunnel.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

david@mediacopy, Cheers guys, I went P&O in the end, but only because the times were marginally better.

As good a reason as any:) I've usually just gone for the cheapest, I've used P&O, Norfolk, Sea France and probably a few others I can't recal, there really is very little difference - obviously timings are longer if they go to Boulougne or Dunkirk but if I'm not in a hurry that's not an issue. I prefer the tunnel, but boats are usually cheaper.
I think LD Lines are the people who took over Speed Ferries? I suffer from sea sickness and had horrible, although mercifully short, crossing with them a couple of years ago. If the sea is calm they are fine, and pretty fast, but if the sea is rough they have to reduce speed and the boat rocks a lot more than a normal ferry. I was sick as a dog.
