Reminder - Wengen downhill today at 11.30 on the BBC red button.
I'll be interested to see if Bode Miller can beat my time of 8 minutes and 11 seconds for the Lauberhorn.

elgrego, when not race prepped and with a bit of fresh snow on its a lovely run, however the Hundshopf and the Zielschuss are unplesant without a bit of fresh snow, they tend to stay hard and icy the whole season.
It's the longest course of all the downhill runs by quite a bit which is why the racers look tired at the end, personally however I think the slalom course is nastier, it tends to stay hard and icy the whole year as it's very much in the shade for much of the day, theres also a cowshed halfway down and usually a concrete manhole thing near the bottom, the shed is easy enough to avoid but the sensible people stay on the right of the course, the left is considerably steeper indeed at one point the slope just drops out from under you.

D G Orf, As you say the slalom course is very steep in parts and can be very icy. I only ski down it when there has been some fresh snow on it which makes it a nice run.

Thanks for the info DG Orf, I've often wondered what the race courses are like to ski, with some decent snow it certainly looks a good run.
Two and a half minutes at the speed they are doing is certainly challenging
I've been down the downhill courses in Lake Louise which didn't seem that out of the ordinary really, but I've never skied any of the European race pistes as yet

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

Im looking forward to giving it a go in a week, hopefully won't be as icy as it has looked on TV, nor too busy!
Does it get very busy usually?

elgrego, the Lake Louise run was extremely icy when we skied it, I took an age to get down, but in good conditions it would have been better. Sestriere's Kandahar was similarly hard, but I was quite an early intermediate in those days.
