Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Which boot center to center - Alpine or Touring

Ok I've some Freeride+ bindings to be mounted on the Black Diamond Verdicts, to be used for multiday tours and piste bashing.

I've 2 pairs of boots - Garmont Heliums the dedicated touring boot - sole length 345mm and Strolz Alpine boots sole length 333mm.

The plan being to swap the boots depending what I'm doing ie adjusting the binding accordingly. Which boot should be set up to the boot center mark on the ski?

I'm thinking along the lines of set up to the touring boot ( as when touring I'll have a weighty pack on so may be better 'over the ski' ) this resulting on being set back slightly (12mm ?) in the alpine boot for piste bashing or lift served short skins.

Any thoughts from techs or BASI / technique gurus?

Ta.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I think you have the effect reversed. The toe stays in the same place so the longer boot *may* have the centre slightly further back. It all depends on the boot marks.

I'd put your alpine boots plumb on the mark and let your touring boots find their place a little further back. This might be better for skiing softer stuff anyway.

But, in the end, I wouldn't worry about it overly much. The difference at the centres will be around 6mm which you may only just notice.

weeSKI, Set them up for you Alpine boots - using them will be when you want the most out of the ski.
