Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Just wanted to know what sort of prices I should expect to pay from ski gloves at a resort? I have found a pair of Salomon gloves in a local shop but they cost £50. Is that too much?

blondends, seems a reasonable price to me. As I lose gloves like there is no tomorrow, next week I am going to try out a pair of M&S gloves I bought for £15!

I was in the local Super-U last week. Salomons were there between 18 and 44 euros. bought the 22 euro ones

my main concern would be wasting valuable snow time in a shop!!!!
as soon as i get into resort I revert to crazy mode and need to get on the slopes asap!!!! hence all my gear is ready to go - at the top of the bag!!!!

blondends, if you can get to a Super U like BergenBergen, suggest then try the nice brown leather gardening style gloves with fleece lining, my son brandonski (hes in Les Arc for the season) swears by them as do many other locals, they only cost about 15 euro. But if your stuck in the resort shops will charge mre than the UK. IMO

My daughter dropped glove in Val T over New Year, The cheapest replacement we could find was €55, ranging up to €125. Unless you can do a valley shop then here is best. Easyjet are selling decent Bloc Goggles for £18 though in flight.

I don't think I have ever seen a like for like product being sold cheaper in resort than here in the UK but that is particularly so now the exchange rate is so poor.

Of course, you will find other products in resort not available in the UK and you might prefer them. But essentially you have to justify what you want to spend your money on. £50 for a decent pair of gloves doesn't sound ridiculous IMHO and I would agree with mountain mad that I wouldn't want to spend my first few hours in resort trawling around the shops for a "bargain" before I could go out skiing.

blondends, you can usually get cheap but reasonable decent branded ski gloves in T K Maxx. I have had a few pairs from them for £20 a shot (rrp £40-50) which I tend to use as spare pairs for if my good ones get wet.

blondends, if you have a decathlon near you they sell (broadly) the same range as they do here at the (broadly) same prices...

Can I sit on the fence? I agree with both the last posts. I have a pair of pretty basic Decathlon gloves which I keep in my backpack (in case I lose one - or one of the kids does) and my No1 gloves are Reusch all leather outer from TK Maxx for about UKP 40 and toasty warm. I hate TK Maxx - its like shopping in a rugby scrum but they always have some decent stuff.

In my experience the resort stock is either cheap and nasty or very expensive (but might be OK)
