Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Morzine vs Avoriaz

Very Happy

Hi snowHead first post and its a question - on balance which is better out of the two resorts?

We're going last week in feb (flights booked), so its going to be pretty busy wherever we go, but can't decide between Avoriaz being higher up, having no cars and looking like something the martians built etc but being stuck there in evenings, perhaps limited choice of restaurants etc, against Morzine being bigger but lower.

Been to Morz before and liked it so current thinking is base ourselves there and spend a couple of days up at Avoriaz to get a feel for it.

Just how busy will it be during french hols? Shocko

Cheers,
Al

vfr4, You will not have a problem with the restaurants in Avoriaz. Two in particular are our favourites, one is run by the French equivalent of Gary Rhodes (Celebrity TV chef) and one by his head chef in the off season on the riviera!

But the pub scene would be better in Morzine! Avoriaz is extremly convenient everything ski in ski out! From our front door to the piste about 4 mtrs!! It will however be very busy during French half term, in fact you may not get accomodation in Avoriaz! Our place was rented that week back in September and I am sure others will be the same.

Enjoy wherever you decide!

And BTW welcome to snowHead s

Dromonts and La Reserve! Both excellent there are other good ones but IMO these are the best!

Roy Hockley, nope, not there at the moment. I'll be there around the end of March and over Easter - so please drop me a line when you're going to be around. It would be lovely to see you both again.

The telemarking is coming along...slowly... Skullie
