Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

2Alpes, crap weather and refunds

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Weather has been somewhat poo this week, what with rain, hurricane force south winds, general pants British weather behaviour etc etc, particularly today when everything was shut except for the drag lifts on the beginner slopes. Sad

For anyone out there who bought a multi-day pass this week:

- if you took the resort's insurance with your pass, it may refund you a day for today. Pick up an insurance leaflet/claim form from the ticket office.

- if you didn't take the insurance, the lift company may offer you an extra day's skiing or a voucher for a day pass - these vouchers are usually valid for three seasons. Check with the ticket office to see what's on offer.

- your own insurance may reimburse you the cost of a day - check your policy and ask at the main ticket office for a letter stating what percentage of the lifts were closed.

The company's T&Cs state that in the event of 75% of the lifts being closed they will offer an extra day or a voucher, and the insurance will reimburse the cost of a lost day. The bigwigs will be deliberating on the matter tomorrow, and will hand down their judgement to the cashier minions in the course of the morning, so go and pester them to see if you're entitled to any freebies.

Lizzard, Thanks very much I would not have thought of asking for a refund thinking that's a chance you take when you buy the pass. I'm in Flaine but asked them tonight and they will refund me 30 euros on three passes. 90 euros is not to be sniffed at. Very Happy Thanks

Linds, no, I mean the insurance which you can buy at the ticket window along with your pass.

Currently they are offering a day's extra skiing to anyone with a five or six day pass ending on Dec 24 or 25. Anyone unhappy with that is invited to write to the lift company, and each case will be considered individually. Obviously a day's extra skiing isn't a lot of use to someone with a flight to catch, so I'd advise writing to them if you're in that position.
