Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Zakopane... arriving Saturday and leaving on Tuesday...
Hoping to spend more time that way now that there are low cost flights to Krakow... and introduce my fiance to Poland (and Slovakia following your reports!)... (my mum was born in Poland and all her family still live there!!!)

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Zakopane apparently has the best apres ski scene in the region and some amazing skiing, but from talking to many Poles skiing at Jasna, it can get crowded. If the crowds are unbearable, you could try the Slovak side of the the High Tatras: Strbske Pleso, Stary Smokevic, or Lomnicke Sedlo. For more on these places, go here and look at Vysoke Tatry resorts:

If you are relying on public transport (bus), getting from Zakopane to SK will take about 2 hours. I've done it over the the summer and it requires a transfer in Lysa, Poland. If you are renting a car, be sure to request snow chains at the rental desk. The drive will be about an hour give or take depending on road conditions.

With a car, you could even day-trip it to Jasna. Hint: don't worry about all the cars lining the access road at Jasna. Drive straight to Otupene base area (Hotel Grand area) and pay 150 SKK ($5) for a parking spot in the lot guarded by a guy in a black jump suit with a German Shepheard.
