Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Marketed as new Spyder jackets for as little as £60. Has anyone else noticed this? Has anyone bought one? Too good to be true?

Fake I believe, I read something about it. Wouldn't trust them out on the mountain to be honest.

Kevin, Trust Spyderman, I think he is known by a similar name elsewhere and his advice is excellent. You could never buy a 600e + jacket and hope for it to be genuine.

I can't really understand why Spyder stuff costs so much. That in itself invites fakes and knock-offs. I saw a Spyder jacket at the Ski Show for a shocking £599!! I can understand the most technical level jackets use specialist fabrics and as such invite a higher price, but £599 is taking the pee. For that I'd expect a flight, transfer and lift pass thrown in at the very least.

However, spending £60 on a Chinese fake is probably a mug's game too. You might as well spend £40 on a decent own brand jacket from somewhere like Decathlon, Trespass or Mountain Warehouse. They're probably all made in the same factory anyway.

queen bodecia, Spyder is a hell of a lot cheaper than some of the market. E.g. Bogner.

I've had various Spyder gear in the past, and #1son has had a few jackets, which #2 is acquiring as he grows into them. IOE they are good, warm, smart jackets which are great for skiing in. However, as many have come from various sellers on Ebay, if I believed everything I read on snowHead , then they must all be fakes. If that is correct, then the real thing must be truely great.

Go to the spyder web site, look at what they have on offer, Then look on ebay does it match? No is the normal answer.

One of my mates bought one and says it is great for washing the car with. Anything from the far east must be treated with suspicion.

skid & slide, By that logic, go to the Salomon web site (or any other ski manufacturer) and see what they show, and then have a look around: you'll see plenty of people selling stuff which isn't on Salomon's website (old stock, hire-specials, country-specials, chain-specials &c).

I fell for a similar con when I started using Ebay years ago. I bought a pair of what I thought were Gortex North Face pants. Delivered on time from a seller with 100% feedback, they looked real, even down to logo on buttons, good stitching authentic looking labels etc. BUT within minutes of putting them on (luckily only in Xscape ) I was running with sweat, they were not breathable and were only waterproof thanks to the sheet of plastic sandwiched between the fabrics !!

I won these on an auction, I thought I had a genuine bargain but it just ended up being a complete waste of £50.

As others have said there is genuine gear on ebay (I sell all our families gear off on there), but if a seller is marketing multiple items at just too good to be true prices then IMHO its fake and if you buy it you could end up with far more serious consequences than sweaty legs in a dome.

New Spyder/Salomon/TNF etc jackets for £60, get real !!

To be fair that applies to the really expensive stuff, but Im on my second ebay ski jacket, first one no fear, this one Oneill and £50 or thereabouts both times new. A couple seasons out of date (like I care!) and only proably about £150 quid when they were current, but still a pretty good deal and not fake! (or are fake and Im an idiot! but I dont think so.....!)

Spyder for £60 on the other hand....not a chance!

£60 for a new Spyder, damn these insects that's why I couldn't sell my wife's Besson Jacket. Well, that and the fact that it was dayglo yellow. Shame tho, was a good jacket.

Bought my 'Spyder' jacket three years ago of eBay - cost me £100. Never was I under any illusion (nor that bothered - I just liked the subtle design wink ) that it might have been genuine. All I know is that it's been a fantastic jacket that has served well through winters, in domes and in Europe and is continuing to do so.

I bought my fake Spyder Jacket in China for £25 a couple of years ago (along with some Rolex's) and to be honest, it is as good a jacket as my previous one (Dare2Be), however, the Rolex's have long since died. Puzzled
