Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I'm afraid the pound's got trashed the last couple of years and the safe-haven Canadian Dollar has strengthened (no insane banking and plenty of natural resources). A few years ago you would get C$2.40 to the pound, now about 1.70.

All you can do is find a cheaper way of buying, is the Tour Op doing a better deal?

and people complain about the lift prices at Whistler.

9 day adult lift pass for middle of Jan = CAD$645 which at current rates (internet calculator) is 372 UK pounds. That is booking through WB online, you can probably get cheaper if you book with lodging.

joshua, that must be the tri-area pass (it's C$ 705 for a 9 out of 12 day pass, so no discount at all) that allows you to ski at Sunshine and it includes the shuttle buses.

Shame us brits don't qualify for these:

You might also want to consider a daytrip to Kicking Horse, these don't cost much more than the day pass. Will you want to ski 9 days straight? Is a shorter duration pass better value? They sometimes do 7 days for the price of 5. You can always add more days locally.

joshua, Lake Louise always has had an over-priced pass considering the quality of the facilities RCR puts in. It is also very difficult to get cheap deals on any RCR passes, unlike many US resorts.

Where are you staying?

b]stoatsbrother[/b],

RCR have only a minority holding in LL now. It was sold back to Charlie Locke who I think had some sort of option to buy back. RCR prefer to concentrate on resorts where money is to be made in real estate, no real options for development inside the national park.

His first move was to reopen terrain park with jumps. We saw him when having breakfast last spring.

gryphea, hope it improves...

joshua, we have stayed at the LLI 4 times now for a total of 44 days. Nice pool, good breakfasts, food is ok in the restaurant, pizza place and bar downstairs, convenient shuttle bus. The railway restaurant about a mile away is worth a walk, and there are a couple of other places in LL itself - plus restaurants up at the Chateau LL (which is worth a visit).

Hope you are not going to Party - because LL redefines "quiet" at night... but we liked it as a family place.

Best skiing is over the backside of the mountain - and the Whitehorn II gulllies are great.

KH is worth a day trip if the snow is good.

I've seen some tour ops do these from time to time.

We got a good deal on a 4-day tri-area pass for £132 off our tour op Thomson 2 years ago, but that was when you were getting $2 to the £. We then did the bus trips to KH and Panorama (from Banff). Had a car for a few days , had a break from skiing, got out into the wilderness and did snowshoeing, icewalking, snowmobiling and skating instead.
