3 degrees off vertical!? bull**it. Snow doesn't stick to faces that steep.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Googling Wipptal produces this:
NEW AS OF WINTER 2009-2010:
“Manni Pranger” Slalom World Champion Piste
Athletic skiers and snowboarders can prove their stamina on the “Manni Pranger” World Champion piste. This steep slope boasts an incline of up to a maximum of 46 degrees. The World Champion piste is the steepest mechanically-prepared piste in Austria and thus can only be groomed with a winch and a special piste machine.
Steep but not 87 degrees...

It sounds like the piste will have just a short section that is fairly steep.
Seems like a marketing gimmick.

So in fact its nearly 1:1 - one in one (which is what 45 degrees off vertical would be isn't it? She says dredging up her rather rusty maths theory). So how steep is that compared with the usual steepest pisted runs (probably black) in most resorts?

Most are between the high 20's to low 30's . 45 degrees is pretty damn steep.
