Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Val Claret, Tignes: help required

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Four of us are going to Val Claret on March 13th 2010 for a week, staying at Residence Le Nevada. My brother and his gf are now coming, but they are finding it really difficult to find half-decent self-catering accommodation in VC that doesn't cost £1200-£1500pppw; the huge rise is due to the occupancy rate of two people in 6-8 person apartments - we can't seem to find smaller apartments at all. Crystal, Inghams, Thompson etc all have apartments, but they cost so much for 2 people. I will contact my tour operator to see if we can change our booking to accommodate six people, but I was wondering if the Snowheads had any ideas? My bro and gf are vegetarians, so a kitchen big enough to use, let alone stand in, is a must as they will not be eating out every night - cheese on toast gets boring after the third day, apparently. So fussy these vegetarians.... Oh, and the accommodation needs to be in VC as we all want to hang out together during the day and at night.
anyway, thoughts?

There are free buses between Le Lac and Val Claret, so don't rule out other areas entirely - but try sending a PM to Stewart Woodward (insturctor in Tignes) Alpaka Lodge (bar in Tignes) or Marcellus (accommodation specialist) to see what they can offer

ginjaninja, can't you upgrade to a bigger apartment? There's a load of different sizes in Nevada.

If not; the sofas convert to beds (unless you've already got people on them, natch)

ginjaninja, have you looked at all at the websites - the first try crystal - 'val claret apartments' room type a sleeps 2, total price £881.72 or roughly £440 pppw. not that hard?

edit: i now read the phrase 'half decent'. i guess if you want to stay somewhere 'half decent' you'll just have to sack up and pay Toofy Grin

ginjaninja, I found a cheap and cheerful rabbit hutch with this lot http://www.tignes.co.uk/selfcatering.htm last season. Apartments are small but if its just two of them then they'll be ok. Apartment block was Grand Platier.

ginjaninja, Have you tried the local rental agencies or the resort website ? All of them will just charge a price for the apartment.

ginjaninja, as rich.ll posted, go direct to pierre et vacances for cheapest prices in one place. If you feel more comfortable with a travel company, try erna low or igluski - should find an apartment via either for £1400 per apartment per week in which you could sleep 3/4.
