Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Val Thorens - Where for a Birthday Meal?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Suggestions please, based on the following spec:

- Pleasant surroundings (cosy/rustic would be good)
- Non-Michelin star type prices wink
- Decent food (any type)

It's for next Saturday, 12th Dec - so we're assuming the resort won't be too busy & we'll get in at most places.

Cheers!

What part of town are you staying in. Is it an evening meal or daytime.

Thanks - that looks excellent and just the sort of place I had in mind. As you say, not overly cheap but looks like it would definitely fit the bill for a special occasion.

Don't know names of areas - but staying in apartments near the petrol station as you first enter Val T. It will be a night do.

Looks very rustic!

Very interesting too as we will be joining Mr & Mrs Mountainaddict at the do (if invited...)

I am picturing the cosy scene - Mountainaddict and his missus tucking into the Tete de Veau (is that with or without horns? Shocked), washed down with the Chassagne Montrachet (2004 vintage) from the bargain bucket at a mere €109 per bouteille...

while Mrs B and I tuck into the tartiflette, washed down with Kronenbourg (1664 vintage) wink

You're going to be in the lower part of town, right next door to L'Oxalys actually. Many of us on last season's EoSB had the pleasure of dining in the restaurant as a group and meeting the star chef who'd catered for us so deliciously. It really is superb.
If not L'Oxalys, then Jo225's suggestion is definitely The one to go for and it's not too far from where you're staying.
Wishing you both a lovely night.

Chalet de la Marine were doing evening meals last year - seem to remember sit down at about 6 and then get guided back down to VT after your meal. Might make a nice change to an in resort restaurant.

Not cheap but not M* prices either.
