British ski jumper Eddie 'the Eagle' Edwards, who flew to fame in the Calgary Winter Olympics for his spectacular inability to fly, will carry the Olympic torch on its journey to Vancouver to open the 2010 Games.

His Olympic call has come from the British Columbia Tourist Board, who will pay for his trip.
‘They came directly to me, rather than go through the BOA,’ said Edwards. ‘The people in British skiing didn’t want me 20 years ago and they don’t want me now. |

True words Guvnor, Eddie is an icon in Calgary.
He may not have get a movie made about him, but Eddie the Eagle T-shirts outsold Jamaican Olympic Bobsleigh Team shirts 2 to 1 during the games. Believe right in saying he was given the keys to the city.

Apparently the Eagle movie stalled because Eddie vetoed the script.
I'm sure we could come up with a suitable script - it's high time we saw this movie. 2012 might be a great year for it!
