Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Ski Dates - Xmas 2010 and travelling options

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
HI guys, this is my first posting and for my first foray into snowheads, I'm putting forward a question that as yet I have been unable to ascertain by various searching and trawling across the information pistes of the web.
I am currently doing a bit of research into going skiing next Xmas in 2010 and have come across a bit of an anomoly with the dates etc. Xmas day is on a Saturday, and the daytime ski train travels on a Saturday, except most train services do not operate on Xmas day
Does anybody know how the dates for ski holiday, chalets, trains and flights and the like are going to get structured for next Xmas? I have seen in the past 6day weeks and 8day weeks, but am unsure as yet what will be in store for us over the festive period next year.

welcome to Snowheads, solataire.

There was a thread on this recently, with apartment owners wondering how to play it - because nobody will want to go anywhere on Christmas Day and as you say there is normally no transport. Nobody had much idea what would be happening.

If you're thinking of tour operators, they will probably do a 6 and 8 day, as you suggest.

Nobody could accuse you of leaving things till the last minute. wink Do you have any plans for the coming season?

Ah, if only. Choice this year was supporting my wife taking her masters degree or having a few ski holidays in January and February.

We ain't going skiing this year so trying to piece together some info before approaching friends early next year about a trip over Xmas 2010. Most of our friends either ski or board, so it's kind of a no brainer to suggest a holiday in the white stuff with them.
