Poster: A snowHead
|
I was just wondering if anyone had any experience of Tignes Les Brevieres, hopefully it will be a little more attractive than the main part of Tignes and at the end of March we'll still be able to ski down in good conditions! If you have any tidbits of knowledge they would be much appreciated!
1 Has anyone stayed there?
2 What is it like?
3 Any restaurant recommendations?
4 How fast are the lifts up to the main Tignes area?
5 What are the runs down like?
Thank you all!!

Chris, not much help I'm afraid except to say that last year we skiied down there a couple of times for lunch from Tignes. Enjoyed the ski, but despite the good conditions higher up the mountain, it was a bit patchy but skiable. I believe there is also a black somewhere, but we missed it! Others may know. Looked a nice village, with good restaurants, saw three or four just at the bottom of the run, so probably more. Don't remember a problem getting out of the village either. Remember thinking it would be a nice place to stay!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

The black run down to Les Brevieres is called the Sache, and is a really nice run if the snow conditions are good, however if they are at all dodgy it can be a nightmare. I've not stayed there myself, but I've also visited for lunch, and I also remember thinking that it would be a nice place to stay.

There is a blue runs down to LB but there is also a gondola which you could get back down if the snow was poor. Access to Tignes main area is very good, 1 gondola, 1 chair and your back in the main area. Very much like La Tania or La Praz in Courchevel (distance wise) with only about 600m vertical the difference.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Excellent, is sounding like we have done quite well booking there then! We have got what looks like a lovely appartment right at the bottom of the slopes, 75m squared so a lot more comfortable than what was on offer in Le Lavachet or Le Lac!

We have always done a skii in lunch at the restuarant next to the river. Very good nosh, and sunny too. I would agree, a good choice. Please let us know how it was for you.

The blue run down I did last week and it was glorious - a bit of a boulevard in places but beautiful views of the dam. I can recommend the restaurant just over the bridge on the left for lunch - the best tartiflette in the area. It certainly is more picturesque than the other areas of Tignes.

Was it Restaurant L'Armailly? Our appartment is part of that chalet.

Sounds like it was the Bouida that Frosty was refering to, it's just across the road from L'Armilly. Some of the people who spend most seasons here say the current snow conditions down in Brevieres are among the best they've seen.
In the last two weeks I've eaten at Bouida twice - good both times, and yesterday using Sache, Aguille Rouge and Paquis lifts I got to Tignes Val Claret (next to the funicular to Grand Motte) in just 32 minutes, so it's not too remote at all.

All sounding very positive then. I'm looking forward to tackling the Sache and then a vin chaud at the Bouida!! Can't wait
