Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Whistler - lift pass

 Poster: A snowHead

Travelling to Whistler in a few weeks. Can anyone give me advice on purchasing lift passes. It seems that some on-line sites offer discount if buy in advance. Firstly is this actually the case and if so can anyone recommend where to purchase from?

Thanks

I am sure there are others to confirm but I think Whistler has a funny system that you can have a credit card type pass that momey is deducted from your bank only for the days you ski in the resort. At least one of the discount system is like that and is being offered to bank account holders in the province. That pretty much excludes the foreigners unless you know a friend willing to buy a ski ticket for you. Thus some types of discounted ski passes may be unavailable to non-residents. The official web site never make this point clear.

I would buy the tickets on the spot as the people in the ticket office speak English and can give really good advice.

Saikee refers to the edge card which is available to residents of BC or washington state and thus is no good to you

But you CAN buy Edge cards online, just need to put in a local postcode to get thru the first page Very Happy
These are best if you are going to ski more than about 10 days there. If not, better to get the multi day pass.

It is cheaper to buy this from 7-Eleven in Vancouver or Squamish, rather than in Whistler itself.

The other option, usually chepaest, depends who you booked your accomodation thru? Companies like alluradirect.com have good rates on advance purchase of lift tickets. Basically, anyway to buy it in advance is generally chepaer than buying it in town.

Hope that helps.

you can buy the but you need proof that you live at that postcode when you go to pick them up - but that's based on what the website says, not on actual experience

I bought my first Edge card back in 98, and have had that or a season pass every year since. Last year i had the edge card, bought on line, no problems (this year i have a season pass agian). HOwever, you will need some sort of photo id to collect your pass. I use my passport, and have no problems.
