Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

February Half Term Off Piste Skiing Course

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I am trying to organise an off piste skiing course wk beginning Sat 14 Feb. I am struggling to find a course I can join but have found a company www.mountaintracks.co.uk who will put on a course if I can find 5 others. If you are 16+ can ski all types of terrain including red and black runs in most snow conditions from powder to crust, crud and spring snow and want to learn how to go anywhere - this course would combine essential mountain & avalanche awareness skills with off-piste instruction and guiding. It would also be possible to include a 2-day tour and an overnight stay in a high mountain refuge. The aim is to run a course that strikes an ideal balance between learning, exercise and fun. Their words not mine! I think it would be Les Contamines/St Gervais and guess the price would depend on numbers - but better than loads of rubbish for Christmas. Are you interested? The course would be residential - the guy I spoke to was great.

If there are any other companies out there who could offer this sort of thing in that week do please let me know.

Max Smith, Welcome to Snowheads

Good luck with getting the course together - is this aimed at teenagers or adults?

If the latter then I don't understand why you want to run it at 1/2 term as thats probably the most expensive week for flights, accommodation etc - e.g. EZY LGW to GVA on sat/sat is now looking at 400 quid round trip...

I guess you might be a teacher which would explain the date constraints Could you not achieve similar with going at Easter where the price penalty is probably not as extreme

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

I would have thought that the most difficult part would be finding un tracked off piste during half term week snowHead

Just to follow on from what Max's original post...
The course would be aimed at teenagers - suggested age 16-18 - who are good skiers, have started to get bored of just skiing onpiste and want to ski the whole mountain and learn about the risks and hazards and how to stay safe. One of our team of Mountain Guides would lead the week.
Max is limited to February half-term.
