my daughter has decided that she wants new skis and boots for christmas. the problem is we have recently moved to the romney marsh in kent and do not know of any ski shops within an hour drive from us that we could go to
as she is only 14 I dont want to spend too much on boots as her feet are still growing and I dont want to buy via the internet as there is nothing worse that bad fitting boots
can anyone advise where to go

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

carla4221, I'm sure there is ski shop in Folkestone, it would be worth the journey to get properly fitted boots.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

carla4221, can you not convince her to wait for the boots, it won't be long before her feet stop growing? Our 14yr old has his own skis (second hand) but is happy to wait for boots. I'm pretty sure his feet have stopped growing but am waiting until next year just in case

I think holding out for boots is a good idea. They don't cost too much to hire without skis anyhow... better that than having a useless pair next year!
I think there is a little shop at the dry slope in Folkestone (if it is still there... that's where I first learnt!)
Captain's Cabin in Canterbury www.captainscabin.com although I never went there.
What about a voucher?... What if you design and make up a snazzy looking voucher that is personalised to your daughter for a pair of skis... then when you next go on holiday get the credit card out!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

carla4221, Captains Cabin at Canterbury is where I mostly shop. It's about 45 minutes from you on a good day. I know there is at least one shop somewhere near Hythe/Sandgate, but didn't learn much from looking in the window as I drove by.
I have heard good reports about bootfitting at Captains Cabin, but have never used them myself.
