Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Trip Advice - where should I go ??

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I have a one way flight (the remaining part of a return flight I booked last season) to Geneva on 18th Dec but not booked a return leg yet. I am looking to squeeze in a short trip maybe returning on 22nd/23rd Dec but flexible and could return earlier or even stay out for xmas Very Happy

What should I do and where should I go ? Only consideration is that is likely to be snow sure and does not have loads of drags as the main access up the mountain (boarder). I have been to Cham, Tignes (loads of times), Verbier (twice), Val D, PDS (twice), Saas Fee, VT ( snowHead Bash) in the past from Geneva but would not count out any of those resorts again.

I suppose ease of transfer would be a plus, any accomm would suit but hotel/B&B etc as a single traveller would probably be best. Apart from that I have no other requirements except snow. It would be good if a few snowHead s would be knocking around at the resort Very Happy

Any thoughts ?

rayscoops, have you considered http://www.mountainsunltd.com/ ? Popular with sH as you know, reasonaby priced and particularly convenient as HB and transfers included Very Happy Dunno about availability in Tignes but Les Coches (La Plagne) is still available.

beanie1, Not decided yet and have already been to lots of places from Geneva which is causing me the problem in deciding. The new problem is that my flight is with BA and they are likely to be on strike by then Shocked

slikedges, yes that is an option plus some of the other kind snowheads who have businesses in the region.

Perhaps it is time I head to Zermatt because I have been putting it off for years now, or maybe some other Swiss resort like Villars

rayscoops, how about Les Arcs? I think it's more snowboarder friendly than La Plagne in terms of flattish sections and drags. Having said that though the flats bits aren't much of a problem if you hit them at speed and you can avoid the drag lifts unless you like the snowpark. Anyway there's a couple of helpful rope tows on some of them apart from the Tunnel run but it's no great problem. Both have tons of off-piste and there's plenty at La Plagne in between pistes. When I was there last April, one run - Inversens - was left ungroomed after a good 18 inch dump for what the sign at the top called "Puff Training" - excellent fun but unfortunately served by a really slow 2 man chair.

rayscoops, Zermatt without question. Easy from Geneva and a must do resort. I went to Zermatt on a day trip many years ago on a summer holiday from Italy before I was a skier and wondered about the skiers going up in the lift with us. After getting into skiing I always vowed that I would go back one day.

I finally went there a few years back and it didn't disappoint and I've been back since. If you are into really good mountain restaurants then Chez Vrony and the Sum Zee are not to be missed. Skiing into Cervinia is also a must but I wouldn't get the full pass covering Cervinia, as the lifts are sometimes closed due to winds etc and it's easier to pay the supplement on the day if conditions are good.
