Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Where to go for last ski trip ??

I am writing this on behalf of a South-African couple who are moving back to Africa to do charity work.
They have been on one ski trip before and would like to have one last one before they move back.
They are not going to bother with lessons as it will be their last ski holiday
This will only be their second week on snow so they are looking for very easy stress free skiing, mostly on greens and very easy blues, but where you still get a sense of travelling, just to enjoy it one more time.
They are planning to go the last week in Jan but are not going to book it yet before they know what the snow is like but they would like to have a short list.
They are thus looking for:
1. Lots of easy skiing
2. If possible- nice alpine atmosphere
3. Nice accommodation
I took so much stick from them over rugby and cricket that I have recommended Verbier and La Grave to them Very Happy , but I cant be that mean, even to South-Africans. rolling eyes
Recommendations would be appreciated.

Im sure they are many resorts which will tick thoses boxes but if you get the weather, ie after lots of snow Zell am Zee is just fantasic.

The skiing shouldnt be too challenging and Zell is one of the most picturesque areas to ski and visit.

Louis, I believe La Rosiere will fit the bill for them, it's high and very snow sure, there is some really good skiing where you can enjoy easy gliding on wide well pisted runs with the added bonus of skiing in France and Italy on the same lift pass. The village is small, with a relaxed friendly atmosphere and some of the best views in the Alps. For good accommodation I can recommend www.morealps.com who have some of the best chalets in the village. I have to declare an interest, its my son;s company so I know first hand how hard he and his partner work to ensure their guests have a terrific holiday. those pictures look wonderful. I wouldn't agree with Alpbach - after the v easy nursery slope in the village (often v slushy as it's quite low and Alpbach doesn't have a great snow record) a fair bit of the (pretty limited) skiing might be a bit challenging for second weekers.

Definately recommend Grindelwald in Switzerland and if the budget allows, stay at the Belvedere
Great skiing at First(grindelwalds own mountain, plus Kleine Scheidegg and the lift pass even covers Murren.
Lots of nice mountain railways to get areoud, magnificent scenery and the 6 course dinners in the Belvedere, I cant think of anywhere more idyllic. Smile

Italian slopes tend to be groomed to perfection, and the food is wonderful. Would recommend Italy - no specific resort in mind, just generically Italy. I enjoyed COurmayeur, but it's not a huge resort so they won't get that sense of travelling

I agree with luigi, there are lots of easy blues, you can travel big distances and it is really spectacular. Perfect answer.
