Poster: A snowHead

Can anyone recommend some good ski wear shops / websites?
Im looking for a new jacket (possibly salopettes too), but basically don't want to pay through the nose!
After something a bit 'different', as I'm getting bored with the same old black, red, blue kinda things....
any suggestions?

A friend of mine has a web based outdoor clothing business. He sells a lot of Millet gear, for better prices than you would pay in France. Might be worth looking at?

A second vote for www.skiwear4less.com . We've used them a fair amount and have visited one of their shops - things are not necessarily the latest but are always very good value and the staff are helpful. Delivery very fast too.

It's worth looking in the nearest Outlet centre, most of them have a Tog24 shop and usually one or two others that will stock skiwear.

These guys are really helpful. We have only been to the actual shop once (Leamington Spa) but have ordered several times online (equipment, clothing).
What is really good is the customer service via email and telephone. Recently sent something back for the first time as the size was wrong and my card was re-credited on the day they received it, and also got a confirmation email same day.

aldoyle, If you can get to Liverpool, Outdoor World may be worth the trip http://www.outdoormegastore.co.uk/outdoorworld/index.html - we've had some decent stuff from here over the years, and I got a new jacket there last season. Depending where you are in Preston, a journey of about an hour I'd say

These guys are based in my home town of Dundee. Bizarre little nissan hut they operate out of, in fact I have just been around for a nosey. I think it definitely helps if you know exactly what you are looking for. They seem to get in container loads of, particularly, Rossignol skis, which has been collected, unsold from shops all over the alps, thus a lot of their stuff is last years.
Out of interest, do we still feel Goretex is the best outer layer still available? I am going to upgrade my jacket this season.

no but i wouldn't say there is anything that is significantly better than Goretex
event is pretty good, as is the proprietary membrane in Patagonia hardshells (I prefer this to Goretex but it's a personal thing)

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.
