Nice blog and great photos!
I did a season in the 3V in 1997 and your photos bring back some nice memories.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

we’re probably heading for a face which has been the subject of a fatal avalanche, but I soon have something else to worry about when I see how precarious the ridge is. At one point it was so narrow that when side-slipping down it both the tip and tail of my ski were hanging out above a steep drop. No room for mistakes in this no-fall zone! |
Scary.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Hurtle, indeed. I don't think I could do stuff like that, even if I was capable. The possibility of impending doom would be too great for my brain to handle.

Now that's what I call a proper block for a shear test! A pity there is no photo of the scary ridge but I imagine it was the last thing on your mind!
Well done with your results rob@rar (and it's nice to see someone else still uses the singular 'criterion'.

kitenski, yeah I know, shocking isn't it. Goddamn French ski factories don't offer anything of interest to real skiers.

Indeed. I have to confess that I don't have the taste for very steep terrain that some people seem to have, so what was puckeringly scary for me might well have been straightforward for others.
