Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Final showdown

Paerson and Kostelic will race against each other for only the second time in these World Championships, when they meet in the slalom this afternoon - each has two gold medals to their name so far from Bormio. So, considering both have already won World Cup slaloms this season, the odds are on that one of them will take gold today...

While Atomic has ruled the roost in the Men's events, Paerson and Kostelic have seen to it that Salomon has, so far, dominated the Women's.
Kostelic took golds in the Combined (downhill and slalom) and the main Downhill event then rested for the Super G and missed the GS through flu. Anja Paerson chose not to take part in the Downhill but took gold in GS and Super G. She took silver behind Kostelic in the Combined, their only meeting until now.

However, the Finn, Poutiainen, should not be ruled out. She took silver in the GS and is within reach of the overall World Cup title this season, mainly due to some excellent performances in slalom. So good in fact, that she has already gained enough points to secure the crystal globe as WC Slalom champion.

If all three manage to ski the two runs without mishap, it's hard to imagine anyone displacing them from the podium.

First run live on Eurosport at 1.30 pm, second run at 4.30 pm....

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

First run over. Hmm. Wonder what odds I would have got for all three on the podium? Carnage a couple of gates from the end, loads of skiers crashed out, literally sliding over the finish line, but skis in the air in not a few cases. Paerson and Kostelic (both with the flu) look exhausted. Janica K actually got up out of bed and came straight to the slope just in time for the inspection.

Bit like Bode in the GS - although I don't think he had illness as an excuse for missing the course inspection! Bet he regrets it now though....
