Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

All these "snow report" threads, with new posts coming up regularly... I keep clicking with hopes in my heart, but no snow or even a decent forecast of a dusting.

I can still take it now. But come mid November I'll be a nervous wreck.

horizon, you can shove your snow reports. Twisted Evil I'm off for some autumn walking in the Alps, this weekend. Have enjoyed lovely sunshine and clear days, and some walking in T shirts (with fleece in the backpack wink )for the last 6 or so Octobers. Even into early November. Hasn't stopped the snow coming later, when it's due. And even if you don't give a damn about my walking holiday, what about the other poor old cows? They're still out on the pastures.

Is there usually snow in the Alps this time of year? I don't start perusing snow reports and webcams until late Novembe, and often there is very little to see at that point.

There are already 3 nonglacier resorts open in the US. Should be 5 or 6 by the end of next week.

Hey my beef isn't (yet) with the snow, it's with the incessant updating of threads on a zillion resorts!

queen bodecia, a good policy. There is sometimes snow at this time of year but it's pretty irrelevant to the more important question of whether there will be snow at Christmas.

http://www.obertauern.com/winter/wetter.html Heavy snow forecast for Obertauern on 12th October and I notice on the webcams they have put the marker posts up along some the road edges and the snow cannons are out! (how sad is this that I'm watching such activity?) Looking at http://www.j2ski.com/snow_forecast/Austria/ snow seems to be coming to most of Austria. Very Happy
