Mines a sort of purple colour but that offers little protection in my experience.

Not red, blue, green or black - there's a risk a pisteur might pick you up by the neck, mistaking you for a piste marker gone astray and inadvertantly cause death by strangulation.

You people are such gapers and noobs. As any fule no, the helmet which offers the best protection is the one which matches your skis / boots.

Black (just about everything is better in black really) - failing that "rouge noir" as in the Chanel nail polish shade is also acceptable

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

But if your helmet is purple, you're holding it too tight?

For full safety you really need a proper protective cover when you stow your helmet, otherwise accidents can happen. No one wants a damaged helmet on holiday.

Spit and polish is the best way to keep it shiny. Or should that be the other way around...

Ladies should make sure that the helmet they use is in especially good condition. Use a different one if you can see cracks, unusual markings, scratches or any signs of misuse. Sometimes a bit of spit and polish will only lead to more of a mess. Make sure no one else ever uses your helmet.
Be safe.

The colour needs to match the grade of run you are on. Off piste you are totally screwed.
