Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Austria - half-term!!

Poster: A snowHead
Thinking of booking a sneaky ski trip over Feb half-term to St. Michael im Lungau already going to Tignes and La Plagne at Christmas and Easter, but I haven’t been to Austria for 20 years.

Any views on the resort and or how busy it is in Austria at that time of year - compared to France!

griffterski,

Know nothing of the resort but this year half term coincides with Dutch holidays and Fasching, I am going but am expecting it to be busier than usual.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

griffterski, I went there 4 yrs ago end of March.
It's a nice area - but small.
There's quite a bit of skiing though if you factor in the Lungo or Lungau pass
Katschberg is 10 mins on the bus and I thought the more interesting area.
Fanningberg OK for a day for something different and there's Obertauern 20 mins away - but not sure what bus connections are like.
The town is really quiet - not really any apres-ski and it's a slow 2 man chair to the skiing (and quite a walk, depending where you are in the town).

I actually quite liked the place - in fact I'm thinking about returning there in January, but I'd probably look to stay in Mauterndorf - I would guess it's a more interesting town (even though you have to bus to the lift)
