(btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hi Anyone have advice or experince on the best form of eye protection for 9mth baby. He will be in the creche each day, but want to make sure he is protected on the journey to and from and also if they take him outside during the day. Thanks

We've bought some goggles for our daugther. They have slightly more chance of staying on than sunglasses
Got some cheap ones from TK Maxx (£7.99). Should last her a while. Maybe even until she's old enough to have a crack at following in her old mans board tracks

Remember facing this years ago on summer hols.The obvious solution then,as now,is a sun shade(given that the young un is in a push chair)If you are carrying,then not so simple.Frankly,I don't give much hope to finding anything the little darling will not pull off within 10 seconds
Now something tells me(it was a long time ago)that babies have some sort of natural protective instinct from bright light?But don't take my word for that.There are one or two medical types on here,and lots of caring mum's.Sure you will get a practical answer soon.Have fun.

There are covers available for push chairs that block UVA and UVB rays, supposedly. I've usually used sun glasses on the little ones, along with hats with big brims. You might be lucky in that he may want to copy Dad! Also send him to the creche with a tube of sunblock with a high SPF (60 if you can get it) and insist that they apply it before they take him out. They may want your permission in writing to do this, but since he's young enough to still be in nappies I'd assume that it's covered under the usual permission forms.
