Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Les Arcs to open early this season

It looks like Les Arcs has decided to open a little bit earlier this season than it has done in the last few years. Scheduled opening is December 5th according to LesArcsNet.

Meribel/Mottaret and Couch 1850 are also due to open on 5th, conditions permitting

I was staying in Les Arcs last season in that week but because it was not yet open I commuted up to Tignes each day to ski. Very frustrating considering there was shedloads of snow everywhere, including Les Arcs.

I think LesArcs Net is wrong again, but didn't we discuss this on a different thread anyway? Whilst the homepage of LesArcs.com has 'domaine skiable ouvert 5/12/2009 au 25/4/2010 isn't the first week purely for the cinema festival? I think you'll be getting on a bus if you want to ski on the 6/12 from your appartment! So I'd imagine it's really only 1950/2000 bowl that would be open and they could probably get away with just Marmottes, Arcabule, Pre St. Esprit and Varet - would be nice if Lanchettes and Gd. Col was open, but I'd doubt they open Comborciere or Bois De L'ours as it would be tooo tempting to go down the 'wrong side'.

If you go to the official lift pass prices - http://www.lesarcs.com/IMG/pdf/2010-TARIFS-PUBLICS.pdf then it suggests the main opening is on the 12/12 with the handbag opening on the 19th which fiits in with last year opening dates. So Id' suggest the opening will be phased like this:

5/12 - Some lifts open in the 1950/2000 bowl

12/12 - Majority of lifts open in 1600/1800/1950/2000 and Peisey-Vallandry

19/12 - Opening of the Vanoise Express.

In previous years, Peisey-Vallandry has opened a week after Les Arcs, so my bet is on it opening with the VE, on the 19th, but I could be wrong wink

bertie bassett, yes that makes sense, and mirrors the way they closed the resort a couple of seasons ago. In any case I doubt I'll be in Les Arcs that week as I'm in Zermatt the previous week and will need to get back to the UK to do stuff before Christmas happens.
