Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

There are early booking deals now, but usually the biggest savings become available about two weeks (and less) before the departue date. However the late deals do have risks associated with them, including:- there might be no deals available; if there are deals they might not be in the resorts you want; if there's a group of you going you might struggle to get into the same accomodation/resort.

stroppyboarder,

Best to wait to see where the snow is & look for a deal in that country/area.................also have a price in mind your happy to pay & if the prices drop to meet that, then book right away.....dont keep waiting for prices to drop & drop as you will just as likely miss out instead.
From what I,ve seen best offers are 3 weeks & less before depature........though the odd really good discounts can , & do, pop up a month ot two in advance.
So would advise to start watching prices & snowforecasts early/mid december & be ready to book at very short notice.

Good luck

Mitch

Well, there's either the last minute option, which can be good, but full of the obvious risks, or the early booking route.

Recently booked two weeks in Canada (earlybird) going out mid-March '10, flights/transfers/accommodation for five hundred apiece plus change. Don't care how late you book it you'll struggle to top that, a known quantity, and as it's in the bag so no panic.

Keep an eye on the TO sites, look in at least twice a week, as mid year low bookings may force them to offer better deals.

Or leave it 'till the death. Going late Jan should throw up some deals, but if price really is critical, switch to early Jan (first week in new year) and you could really save. Which is what I'll also be doing.

And lastly, depending at your ability, don't overlook places like Bansko. Despite the predjudice, it offers everything up to an intermediate could use, and with some unbeatable full package deals. You can quite easily do the whole job for £500 (with spending money), as long as you stay clear of the knocking shops or resist the temptation to buy an apartment.

Good luck.

John.

stroppyboarder, if you NEED to go somewhere on SET dates in HIGH season and with DEFINITE other requirements...book now. Or, ideally, as soon as you can.

If you just fancy somewhere that might be a wee bit snowy around when you think you can probably get time off, book as soon as you know when your time off will be.

We hope to have New Year booked by end September. We would like to have mid January booked by early January.

if you want to go in school holidays book early, we got a good deal for our apt in Montgenevre next easter, at £400 each, but if you look now it appears the flight is booked up as no options come up for the departure date on the Neilson web site. But if you are not going school hols and have some flexibilty on where you want to go wait until 6-2 weeks before, in 2008 we got an apt in Livigno with Panorama the week before easter for £265 each booked 7 weeks before.
