I've just bought some skis that were originally mounted with px14s. Have been offered a pair of px12s but i'm not totally sure if the screw pattern is the same. I'm assuming it probably is but thought best to check. Also, it may sound like a dumb question (and probably is) but is a 100mm brake width cutting it a bit fine on a 98mm ski?

May be uwise to try to remount in the same holes anyway due to the screws being self tapping (assuming they are.

So is it a bad idea to use the same holes or are you saying i should try it out first and if not then get them helicoiled?

Try them as are, see if the screws pull up tight, if not, go see the Spyder.

 Brake lever secure in vice & bend the leg using a length of pipe - a cut down ski pole works great.

The guy that has the bindings isn't entirely sure of their clearance, will all px12 jibs have a 100mm brake or do they vary? Websites seem to mention wide versions but i haven't seen anything else other than a 100mm brake. If they do vary, where is the width measured from so i could ask him to check. He's got them mounted on some salomon suspects (86mm waist) at the moment if that makes any difference.

el nombre, some brakes advertised as 100mm are actually that so the ski needs to be a few mm narrower whereas some are designed to fit a 100mm ski so are actually a tad bigger. I'm not sure how Look brakes run but the easiest way to check is to get your seller to measure the clearance on his 86mm skis. If there's 8/9mm clearance each side they should fit fine without needing to be bent.
Have you checked your boot length against that of the original mount on your new skis?

Ok thanks, yeah i checked the BSL, they're the same which was pretty lucky so shouldn't be a problem.
