Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Canterbury BaseLayer COLD - any views

When I was in TKMaxx today I spotted that they had a handful of these long sleeve tops in

I know that you often see the rugby lads wearing them, but wondered if anyone had any experience of using them whilst skiing. Reading all the blurb it seems like they tick all of the boxes

Had to buy one as at £15 - thought it was a bargain, plus I'm a bit of a tecno geek, so was seduced by all the high tech blurb they claim it does wink

Sleipnir, never tried them as I'm a big fan of Decathlon's own brand base layers at half the price wink

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Sleipnir, Though not identical they sound very similar in principle and construction to a couple of tops that I picked up in Lidl's last year - mine were long sleeved, 'winter sports tops' - there was different weave to allow the body to perspire at different rates in different areas (if you believe their blurb) and they were worn tight against the skin and were quite firmly stretchy when on. I was skeptical, but bought a couple as they were only a tenner each and have worn them skiing this year. I have been very pleased with them. They are warm, and very surprisingly comfortable. The tightness is very supportive, I had no pulls or strains in my arms through twisting and in actual fact really missed them when I took them off at the end of the day.

Yes I have one and it's excellent as a base layer in the coldest weather and at 15 quid you had a bargain

I have a couple and love them. Best bit of kit in my bag. Great as a base layer or top layer in temperatures below freezing to plus fifteen, dries extremely quickly, wicks sweat excellently, doesn't pong up. I use mine for rowing, cycling and skiing and certainly put them through their paces. I have numerous different brands of close-fitting base layers (mainly used as rowing kit) and the Canterbury comes out ahead of all of them - Adidas, Nike, JL, Spartan, Poc and Under Armour. There is a definite difference in weave and material finish.

Thanks folks!!

So, I may have hit lucky with my visit to TKMaxx - don't you just love that shop. Ok, there a lot of junk there but every now and then you pick up a gem. In the winter I picked up some Falke base layers, which some of you may knowledge of. Very good clobber, but also very expensive.......but at TKMaxx less than half price wink

God bless TKMaxx I say!

May be we can ask Admin for a TKMaxx sticky so that snowHeads can notify others of possible bargains. The only thing I don't understand is their distribution policy. You can go into two stores within a few miles of one another and one may have the stuff you want and the other not. I guess it's just luck of the draw!

Thanks once again for your thoughts and advice
