Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Royal Navy's £160,000 ski event causes political row

A 14-day ski event for Royal Navy personnel - over 900 of them - has provoked complaints about its cost. The £160,000 Royal Navy Ski and Snowboard Championships in the French resort of Les Menuires have come at a time of cutbacks in the Navy's ships and jobs. Opposition politicians are criticising the event as a recreational 'junket'. The Government is defending its contribution to "recruitment, retention, team building and fitness"...

This report from Scotland on Sunday.
----------------
On the basis of the figures in that report, the cost to the Navy per person was approximately £160 to £175. Any comments?

Yes! Where do I sign up?

Her Majesty's Opposition (it doesn't say who, exactly) really is FUBAR if they think that sort of condemnation is a) What will turn on the voters and b) is significant in the overall scheme of things. IMHO, naturally.

Night, night. I'm off to bed to read the latest Tom Sharpe offering.

Incredible. I think it actually represents excellent value for money and the Govt's defense from (at least in this case!) is spot on.

I can think of much worse examples of government waste. I would like to think our servicemen and women are fit, motivated and enjoy a good esprit de corps -- good luck to them.

We'd be poorly represented across wintersports if it wasnt for british servicemen and women having the skills and bringing their talents to the fore. Also what a great advert for the services that they may allow you to persue medals etc at an international level. Would be great if more money was given to nurture UK talent regardless of where they come from.

We managed a 9th in the womens and 11th in the mens bobsleigh this weekend - given the right funding and equipment, we can become a much more prmoinent nation in all wintersports disciplines.

Go team GB! Very Happy

Most government departments will spend that amount of money ( £175 ) per head each year on so called teambuilding exercises. Most end up in a local hotel overnight to produce Action Plans, objectives etc for the following year. They all pay tax so good luck to them.
