rungsp, Sorry to hear that - guess you've not had the best of winters all things considered. I actually broke mine (hairline) 6 weeks ago so I'm offically healed but 14 (paid for) ski days down (& wondering whether I'm brave enough for a gentle May Day weekend trip).

Bad luck. Not your year as others have said.
I had a spiral fracture of the leg in Verbier. Leg broke in two places. Lower fracture was the spiral fracture. Operation was in UK though.

I expected this to be a rant about what everyone says to you just before you go on holiday. - "Of course I don't want to be break my ............ leg you ......... ...........!!!"
Anyhow (enough of my rant), hope you have a good recovery and get back on your skis again next year.

My first wife (god bless her) did a tib and fib, many years ago.
She was carted off to the hospital in Bourg where she waited 2 days for her op. 2 hours before the op there was a big coach crash with people killed and many injured so they cancelled her op, needing theatre capacity. She got an ambulance flight back to the UK but instead of going into The Cromwell in West London, as I had arranged, she decided to go into the local hospital at Chelmsford, so she was nearer her parents (those still with me are starting to see why the marriage didn't work).
The junior doctor in AE looked at the cast and her X Rays and said the French doctors looked to have done a 'good job'. They had only done a temporary straightening job.
Her ankle joint has been a few degrees out for 15 years now and she is faced with either having it re-broken and set correctly (6 months in plaster/crutches), or being crippled within the next 10 years.

Same thing happened to me this season. To be honest the ski trip earlier this month didn't help and wasn't as much fun as skiing on a fully healed leg. Plus the afternoon conditions were slush which tends to put more strain on the legs/knees than hard pistes.

All the pressure was sideways through the heel and as heel bindings release vertically....no release.
That is my read of it as I remember it.

I am realy sorry to hear of your accident. 
fortunately for you, all seems to be mending well and you seem to be in good spirits - I hope you get to ski next season, as I can't imagine anything worse than not skiing, so good luck !
