Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Oakley Wisdom helmet compatability

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi

Quick qn: does anyone know if the Oakley Wisdom goggles are compatible with most helmets, and ideally if they work with a POC Skull lid?

Thanks

I switched to Crowbars because of the irritating gap my Wisdoms caused due to their shape (and subsequently switched to Smith I/O's this year, which have a huge field of vision and fit flush with Smith helmets). Can't imagine Wisdoms suit many helmets...

I'm OK with my Wisdoms but I've read bad things about them. Maybe the reason I'm OK is that I have quite a small "face" and use a child-size helmet?

Yeah, I'd imagine the bigger the helmet, the more obvious it is. It depends how much you care about goggles fitting flush too.. They're perfectly "compatible" in a comfort sense with an XL giro g10 but don't fit flush.

Thanks guys/gals. I'll have to try a pair with my lid. Unfortunately all the bricks'n'mortar stores in London are a good £20 more expensive than t'internet, and if I order via the internet I need to do it sharpish so they arrive before the EOSB.

Sideshow_Bob, order from the net and if they work keep them and if they don't send them back! You should pic up some POC goggles for your POC helmet, I would assume they will be a great match?

I have POC goggles and a POC helmet and they are a good match. I don't think the Wisdoms will be such a good match because they have a curved top rather than a square top like the POC goggles.

I bought the POC goggles from onebelowzero.com who occasionally have great sale prices on some of their kit.

The Iris X look nice but I've heard bad things about the POC goggles fogging up on snowy days. I'd also like to get a spare persimmon double-lens (had bad experiences with single lens goggles) for white-out days and OBZ don't seem to offer one for the X even though it seems they exist on the POC website.

I think I'll just get yet another pair of O-frames. I cracked the frame of my last pair on the way home from my last trip but I know they fit the helmet and I still have the lens.

Thanks for the advice all!

Sideshow_Bob, I've not had any problems with my Iris X fogging up so far. I got hold of a pair of yellow double-lens from the US as they don't seem to be stocked in the UK for some reason.

Sideshow_Bob, you can get helmet specific straps/mounts for Wisdoms. I got some, and it does promote a much better fit.

Sideshow_Bob, Mosha Marc, Think mine may have come with the helmet straps as they are fine and I've a big ugly mug. Frame is a bit small though.

Edit- I wear them with a cibe helmet (not sure which model)

Tried to get my Wisdoms to fit with a Giro g10 helmet but failed using the standard and "helmet" straps.
They're basically too big - the forehead part of the helmet keeps pushing them down my nose - very annoying.
Ended up with a pair of Giro goggles - small enough to avoid the problem & good match with the helmet.
Wouldn't advise on buying any goggles without trying them with the helmet first
